Uneven Embodiment Of Evil. - 60%

Written by Perplexed_Sjel on November 20th, 2009 - www.metal-archives.com

Black metal the way black metal was meant to be is how I feel in regards to Voqkrre’s debut, ‘Palans In Pestilens’. Though not as furious as one would expect from a traditional sounding black metal band, no one can accuse Voqkrre of not being evil enough. This debut is wretched black metal in its most evil form and in the vein of all those Darkthrone-esque bands. I’m not typically ...

Lurking out of sight and out of mind, this depressive Black Metal release from the Frenchmen calling themselves Cendres is as grim as they go. Murky, drawn out, and rawer than an uncooked steak, the whole ride begins with the scary “Alienation,” whose subdued nature makes your skin cold (pun intended for Satyricon’s new album). “Liberation del’ame” liberates itself from its predecessor’s frosty reception by dishing out trademark blasts and the-not-so-surprising ...

BAND : SHINING

ORIGIN : Sweden

Album : VI/Klagopsalmer CD 2009

Label : Osmose Productions

I used to like the first recordings of this band. I think the 3 first albums had a certain style and some interesting parts. When, I first listened to this album, I had the feeling to listen a different band. Should be normal since the line-up completely changed. The production is well polished and well done, there is nothing bad to say about this. The rest was much more surprising.

Taken from "Sea of Tranquillity" :

Black Metal from Argentina this time around, on the brand new release from Grima Morstua. Illustratio Per Horribilem Obscuritatem is as raw as you get, as the band take their Spanish roots and apply a healthy dose of Norwegian black metal influences ala Darkthrone & Mayhem. Much of what you'll hear on this CD is not an easy listen, but it's certainly well played and sticks to many of the traditional black metal elements, including evil, tortured ...

Taken from "Diabolical Conquest" :

In the compositions of Nidsang are traces of the Italian improv ensemble Gruppo Di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. Just kidding, they play pretty grating black metal that sounds like Darkthrone's Under a Funeral Moon and A Blaze in the Northern Sky. To be fair, I hear a hint of Vonnish crust, the muscular thrash breaks are pretty Bathoryesque, and during their more melodic moments they channel a bit of early Rotting Christ, but the fact these ...
