PostSubject: Record Player   Fri 3 Apr - 15:51

Hi guys,

sadly my old record player is wasted, so i wanna get a new one, maybe with an USB port. All in all i want to spend around 200 Euros. Do you have any suggestions what to buy?
Quick answers would be appreciated.

Regards,

USB crap is okay if you want to convert your vinyls to mp3s once but not for listening regularly. The quality is not good
I suggest a normal Phillips or something and if you like to digitalize there is software around that allows you to hook your normal player up with your PC and do the same stuff as the USB ones

I have one Sony with usb hole, paid less than 200, but I guess it's the price.
Didn't try to convert vinyls to mp3s though.

Well, of course to good listening quality is firt priority. Already did some research and it seems these USB players are not soo good.
@Ordre et Maïs: Are you happy with yours? What kind of speaker boxes do you guys use?
Thanks for your answers.

I'm happy (you know what ?)
with my vinyl player SONY PS-LX300usb. I had a more expensive Sony record player before but it got fucked... couldn't do anything but changing it.
I'm happy with the overall sound, it's quite a simple mechanism, but enough for me. I had more of a DJ player before, but I guess I would have needed a bigger amp to get THE sound. But I listen to Metal, so this player is a good one I think.
I have speakers I can't remember the brand, they are good, a good bargain, they were new on the market so they broke the prices...

Ah, thanks for your quick reply. So it is all about the amp in the end. Are there any guidelines how to tell if an amp is good or not? Price range etc...

Well I'm lucky enough because in my town there's a sound shop, with real sound professionals, not ignorant clerks from big chains stores. They adviced me, and made a good price for what I did want then. So that's my advice. Find cool professionals and tell them about your needs and budget !

Tomorrow i will visit such a shop. I hope they have some stuff instore. Fuck, my old player had an in built amplifier. I never thought that finding a new record player would be so complicated. I found nothing useful on the net.
I hope i get something good for my budget of 200 Euros. Namely i need record player and an amplifier. My old boxes still work fine.
If i find nothing tomorrow, it would be cool if you guy could just tell me which sytems you have.

Regards and thanks for your attention,
