OMG, it's not black 'n white?!?!!

I can only say it is what the bands wanted.. At least it does not show any unjustified pretention/elitism nor does it hold any clichés unlike a lot of black metal artwork (although the music shouldn't be labelled as black metal).
Perhaps it should be mentioned the cover artwork is less "flashy" on the actual printed covers because of the matte finish: http://www.dismalcursings.be/images/Joyless_DekadentAesthetixEP.jpg
In the first place records are meant to be listened to I guess though.

I don't know the two band of the split, but a band who put an orange "quatrelle" on a cover because this is original is nothing but shitty.

I came on the joyless myspace. This is not metal, why do you post your news here ? This is a black metal forum, we don't care about modern post rock and another crappy things like that.

I didn't say originality is their reason for using it on the cover, I gave my personal opinion. They used it because they sincerely like it.
No problem if people don't like it, they've never cared for such things.

Joyless is not modern post rock, it's a post-Forgotten Woods project started in 1996 that evolved from black metal to "pessimistic pop/rock" / "unpopular pop". Most people that know/have interest in Joyless simply mostly listen to black metal because of this link so it would be less useful to post this on other types of forums. Forgotten Woods is influenced a lot by The Velvet Underground too by the way. As said Dekadent Aesthetix is partly metal and has roots in black metal. Furthermore I'll probably be setting up a trade with Drakkar.

Come on, this shit is only for avant garde wannabees. And please stay serious, while Forgotten Woods is Black Metal, Joyless has clearly nothing to do with that music genre.

This is only a new trend people run after, like the soulsisters from france and all that gay crap, like Lifelover, Kayla and all these shit groups.

And even from the musical side, there are way better bands from that genre than Joyless. They only try to make quick money in linking up to black metal themes like misantrophy and all that.

By the way, when reading your answers, it seems to me, that you are also not convinced by Joyless and also feel ashamed for having them signed. Am I right?

I meant to say that older Joyless releases like "Unlimited Hate" were black metal, I know the newer ones are not. As I said there's just a link with FW in the fact that they share members and I think people who listen to black metal often know them just because of that. I hope it's clear now.
Don't know about the bands you mentioned except for Lifelover but Joyless started long before that. For me they are not part of this "trend" - if anything the modern bands got their ideas from them.
Actually you couldn't be further from the truth, I feel very honoured for having done this release. I sounded the way I did because I don't like to speak for them/any band. If they have anything to share/comment on then they'll do it themselves.

I don't think "Unlimited hate" was a black metal album. A metal album, yes.

I love old Joyless and old Forgotten woods.

Last FW album was very bad. They even doesn't sound like FW and the cover was ridiculous.

I hope the new Joyless will not dissapoint me.

Between FW and Joyless, they are accumulating ridiculous covers.
Of course FW made pretty good albums in the past, but a side project doesn't mean that's good.
The perfect example is Profanatica (which is imo a pretty good band) and Havohej (Dethrone the son of god is excellent, but the new album is a pure shit without name !).
Maybe the first Joyless album is good, but the tracks on their myspace are not metal at all, and are very bad imo.

The JOYLESS tracks on the FORGOTTEN WOODS 3CD are good, but not groundbreaking at all. I never liked LIFELOVER, too.

Well, it's a matter of taste IMO. I'm a bit conservative when it comes to Metal.

Me too. But isn't Black Metal or Metal in general one of the most conservative music genres?
If you really adore something you do not want it to be mixed or watered with something worthless. I mean shit, this girl from Joyless can't even sing propperly. And the musicianship and songwriting is also shitty.

Concerning Lifelover, they just copied the main elements of Woods Of Infinity and tried to commercialise them it seems (Mainly in having not so controverse lyrics like Woi.)

If you listen to some tracks of Förintelse, you hear a lot of elements Lifelover copied for their music.
Obviously, this Joyless stuff is just watered and sweetend unmusical stuff, trying to be "avantgarde".

I mean, i like some avantgarde stuff, Diapsiquir for example. They do it right, but Joyless is useless crap in my eyes.

DIAPSIQUIR's music is different. It's deeply rooted in Black-Metal even with their other influences. It just lacks direction IMO.

I don't deny any attempt to move from Black-METAL to BLACK-Metal. That's what BURZUM did, to be honest. But my tastes are a bit complicated. ^^

Rock projects of BM musicians aren't always bad, though. THE DEVIL'S BLOOD or FEBRUARY 93 -one of the most overlooked bands ever- are quite to my taste.

The lack of direction is undeniable, but still, if avantgarde, then in their vein.

The thought of moving from black Metal to Black Metal is interesting. Did i understand you right, that you mean a band that plays a slightly black touched metal, moving to Black Metal?
Do you have any examples?

I mean passing from something related to Metal music, to something that has only a Metal heritage but isn't really Metal in the end, i.e. lacking lack of Metal riffing.
Look at old Norwegian BM bands! Most of them had Thrash riffs on their tracks, even the darker ones. BURZUM had lots of Metal elements at its beginning too, but Hvis Lyset Tar Oss or Filosofem contain hardly any classical Metal elements IMO. Oh, well, some people will kill me for saying this, but BATHORY or CELTIC FROST are very far when I listen to these albums.

And I hardly see any influence of these bands in XASTHUR or some newer bands too.
