PostSubject: Old Demo Tapes - original or not??   Sat 26 May - 14:52

Hello guys,

I'm desperated with my Mütiilation - Satanist Styrken Demotape. I got it from a trade with a romanian guy who seems to be sincere ( http://drakkar666.forumactif.com/Trade-sales-forum-c2/Trade-sales-forum-f3/-TRADE-SALE-list--t444.htm )
He told he ran a Zine for long years (now he has a label named Lupii Daciei or else) and got these Demos from Mütiilation and related from this time, but I'm still not sure. The Inlay is half-pro glossy, not xeroxed, but the tape seems to be like new. Its a SONY 60 EF TYPE I / IEC I NORMAL POSITION tape. I have the same tape on my Goatvomit - Demo 2000, the only difference is that this tape has the dot in the middle and the "EF" printed in blue, the Mütiilation is red. Can anybody help me??

The Mutiilation logo is read, do you mean?

I'd assume it's not original, as I heard the original was just a xerox, not glossy (and being xeroxed, the logo wouldn't be red). Hopefully Noktu would be able to tell you directly.

Your tape is 100% bootleg.

I spoke of the tape and the differences between the Goatvomit tape (which is without doubt original). The GV tape has a blue dot and blue labels while the mütiilation tape has red prints. So I was wondering why the "old" demo of Mütiilation has the same tape like the 2000 demo of GV.
Now I am sure. What a shit!! He said he can 10000% guarantee this is original. Did Drakkar Productions/LLN related some trade with this guy and his zine?

Safe to say, any Mutiilation demo you find these days will be a bootleg. I have a copy of Destroy Your Life For Satan which is an original, and I know from people I've talked to that it's been bootlegged. The original is "regular" paper, the bootleg being glossy like this.

I'm going to use this thread to catch up on some moonblood demo's I own.

I have the first three rehearsals, there all printed on normal paper, except all three tapes are just plain black tapes, all the same kind. Ive seen them with other kinds of tapes before, so im not 100% sure.

Are they genuine?

I think all original Moonblood Rehearsals are on normal tapes with xeroxed cover, not the blank black/translucent no-label tapes.
Many of the tapes on ebay are these of this type, I've seen millions of Abruptum, Thule and Absurd, Moonblood, etc. bootlegs with these. You can say 99% demos with these tapes are just unofficial dubs I think.
Anyway, it's hard to judge the originality of demo tapes which haven't procovers/tapes. The Moonblood "Winter" demo is easier though...also I think most of the Moonblood Rehearsals aren't that great...

What allways amazes me with Moonblood bootlegs is how there are so many moonblood CD's, which are ALL bootlegs, and the fact that the CD's are always "limited" to 100 copies. In the last 6 months i have seen well over 500 of those "rare" CD's sell over eBay.

That's the kind of tape, an image taken of rehearsal 6 which I found on metal archive

http://static.metal-archives.com/images/2/1/6/2/21621.JPG

I think the moonblood rehearsals are pretty good, not only for the fact that I like the music, but also the fact that even from the start all those years ago they could produce strong music, that was only supposed to be for friends, and last for over 9 years with so many releases.
Or maby I just like moonblood quite a lot, who knows...

Yeah they did quite good songs, no doubts with it. But many of these Rehearsals are boring crap.
This tape you posted I do often see on ebay, too. Not so frequently like the translucent black tapes, but also often. But to be honest I don't know much about them, I can only say I'm very suspicious with these blank no-label tapes. I don't have any Rehearsals by them, only the official Demo and one Split EP with Inferno.

Funny thing with the CD, I saw the "taste our german steel" on CD. It wasn't the normal bootleg CD limited to 100 which is everywhere, it was the "bootleg of the bootleg". A Brasilian shit CD-R Version limited to 25 handnumbered!!! hahaha
Next time I spread a 32 kbit mp3 version limited to only 5 (numbered in a txt file)!

Hahaha, aah that is rather stupid, but its how it goes these days. Its a shame, but it still happens.
I dont buy demo tapes off ebay any more, Unless I know 100% that its genuine and the person whos selling it, as to copy them is just so easy, especially withting slike moonblood, which is just a tape and a piede pf photocopied paper.

No matter what anyone says, your chances of finding a "real" Moonblood demo in 2007 is about as good as fucking finding Osama bin Laden in a Burger King in Iceland.

When the fuck will people learn they can't get originals? You'd have to be an idiot to even consider that you own one. For fuck's sake, do you know how easy it is to xerox an "original" insert with a piece of paper over the "handnumbered" part and call it original? Just give up.

Now lets see if we can find an original Moevot demo in 2007 on Ebay or in some backwards fucking Eastern European/South American distro. I bet those all ALL LEGIT!!

sometimes I heard things like "Carpathian Forest used to dub their demos on TDK tapes" ... but until proved otherwise, everyone can dub their material on the same kind of tape, right ?
so just don't pay such ridiculous prices, morons - cause your MAYHEM Deathcrush $800 'genuine' tape is probably dubbed from mp3s

What about this? One friend of mine bought one quite similar to this and wonders now if this is original.

I bought this one for my friend directly from Noktu's sell/trade list and the tape wasn't black...

I have this demo on black tape and I'm pretty sure it's a bootleg. I got from Nokto's friend "Macabre Transcendance" and "Phalènes" demos, at least now I'm sure of their authenticity.

Yes, he bought the tapes there.

5 of each tapes were available for sale. They are originals without any doubts.

I still have two of each tape left.

I still find something odd. On my bootleg tape of "Macabre Transcendance" the cover seems more original than on the authentic cover (much darker and less precise then the bootleg).
