| Hey! Paganism had nothing to do with miracles & magic. Those aspects were developped mostly during the middle ages, when there were the mix of christianity & paganism. Why do u prefer the religion of Julian? Because Julian was the last emperor to represent the old roman paganism. | |

I'm neither a pagan believer nor a practiser. I just find pagan values more sane and natural than christian ones.

| Paganus(Latin) = Paysan in french
Peasant values are indeed different than judeo/christian one. But I think that most of them are christians nowadays.

That means a lot...! I'll add that the word "pagan" was used pejoratively by early christian authors to describe the most predominant religions of the time, and to denounce supersition, etc... So using the word "pagan" about polytheist or other older european religions is using a christian word in fact. More good and serious information is to be found on the following websites : http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1404/paganisme.html (in french) http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1404/pagan.html (in english)

| That's why i prefer to use the word "heathen", better meaning than "pagan". | |

Wrong. At that time, Paganus meant dweller of the land (autochtone), not peasant/farmer. Heathen is someone who lives in a heath (heide/heiden), Heath/Heide = "lande" in French.

| The definition of the word Pagan is indeed more complex. Especially depending of the period this word/term was used. I do not think this word can be so easily defined today. | |
