New and promising emerging bands Empty
PostSubject: New and promising emerging bands   New and promising emerging bands EmptyThu 28 Apr - 1:05

I do really think that the Black Metal scene (in general: both emerging and well-established/well-known bands) has improved a lot these years.

I am really impressed for example by new (in fact, young) acts like SUNWHEEL (ex SWASTYKA), SOMBRE CHEMIN, NOCTURNE, EOLE NOIR, ORNAMENTS OF SIN, VEMOD and MÖRKEKUNST (does anyone know what is going on with Nordkult Rituals ?), CRYFEMAL, HEIDENWELT, but also WOLFTHORN, ARNSTADT and many other bands.

I also do appreciate the fact that some bands manage to reach high skill levels with just one or two excellent demos or recordings (MORTIFERA, ALCEST, PESTE NOIRE, SUNWHEEL, NIHIL NOCTURNE, etc...).

Do you share the same feeling ? What's your opinion ?

What do you think about the CURRENT French (or French-speaking) Black Metal scene (please, leave dead bands where thy are: I appreciate them too, but that is not the point here) ?

well for me the bests french bands are S.V.E.S.T.(only amazing stuffs!!!) , Peste Noire and Deathspell Omega (even if I prefer the "old days") ! Today there's a lot of good news for french scene : Bekhira "L'Elu du Mal" first full lenght, Animus Herilis first full lenght , Peste Noire "Les Salisseurs de Lumiere" , Eternal Majesty "Night Shadows" MCD , Gestapo666 full lenght, new Mortifera MCD, Alcest first album (??) , Inkisitor MCD, Dark Opus MCD (??) and Bael first full length !!! and a lot of other great bands !!!
So the old bands were great but I don't think there's less quality ! and for me France has now one of the best scene in the world with Suede, Finland and Australia (for this one it's more the thrash side I love)

Never listened to it; but I will try to check out.

Has it already been released ?

Swedish bands have improved a lot. I do like LJA's "Vedderbaug" demo and MATRICIDE's records.

In fact, I think the French Black Metal scene is somehow living a rebirth: it is time to stop complaining about the fact these old bands are dead and they will never come back again. The forthcoming ones do bring a lot of promises, and someones have already shown they are able to record amazing stuff (just check-out any of SOMBRE CHEMIN's releases... even if it is a bit strange at the beginning... a hate-it-or-like-it band, but an awesome entity if you are willing to experience something else).

French Black Metal scene is being greatest and push the Black rules at their limits due to their worst evil references to nationalsocialism and old Pagan Europe which are exploited at their darker extremities. I think it's why the French BM is so well-known... But without this scene (localised in the South of France) of hateful NS BM, there are many more "classic" BM bands, we can easy forget (except some well-known True Black bands like Anteus, Nehëmah, Merrimack...).
So, I think that there is a recrudescence of NS BM addicts whose wait for an new holocaust fetid flavour...
Great !

I don't think it's out yet. I haven't heard anything from Aura Mystique. Should be out in the next few days though from what I hear.

I can easily forget Nehemah's and Merrimack's music, eh, eh! The music of both bands is uninspired and nothing interesting.
I agree with Peste Noire being a really promising band, but I have to add at least these two:

- Zarach'Baal'Tharagh, very raw and crude Black-Metal, not a "new" band (the guy behind this project is something like 35-40 years old and plays since 20 years at least), but its music really kills and keeps a real UG spirit, even if he does splits with some bands that don't appeal me usually (except for Ond Aand but that's because they're friends of mine I admit);

- Misery's Omen and Ghastly from Australia are really good bands, especially the first which show that a band can play original music while not becoming wimps;

- Sa Meute from France is a good choice too; some things must be improved (especially the drums) but they are really good inw hat they do.

That's all for today.

Grenade from australia kills !!
And for France, ZBT is not really my cup of tea but there's some good stuffs in the few demos I have ! about 25 demos it's amazing for a band !!!!
I can recommend from France the band Arphaxat, new project of Shaxul !! Really interesting even if there's no guitar on the demo ! This demo is a little bit hard to find because the band is not really supported because they are against all the new trend of religious BM !

This Arphaxat demo is good and I always liked Shaxul's voice. Against the "religious" (or "orthodox" or whatever they call it) Black-Metal there are good reasons to despise these bands, even if like me you have no personal implications with them. We can discuss years about their "beliefs" but reading interviews let me make me an opinion, added to the fact of some word with mr perversifier from Merrimack ( I tried to have the explanation he wanted of me, but there's no need to go further with the discourse he has...).

Just an simple example:, I've seen Belphegor live yesterday and I've seen a guy from Montpellier with a Watain shirt and he was drugged "for Him". What a deep belief.... Destroy your life for Satan, but thanks I'm fine being alive...

You are just pointing out an intellectual problem, I think.

In fact, when ideology meets reality, one may be a little bit disappointed, for what ideologicaly or what intellectualy works do not sometimes match what the real world is.

One can see this aspect of matter in "philosophy" (for me this word does mean nothing at all), for example: early leftists and ideologists mentaly managed to build world, a world that had to be the perfect one, the best from all possible worlds (but that is what these idiots are used to say)... this world only existed in their minds (if they have got such a thing) because they have definitely failed more than once to export such a "philosophical" idea, or concept, to reality, with politics.

It is the same thing for this guy from Montpellier and these bands who want people to commit suicide for them or Satan (actually, I read once an interview with MUTIILATION where this man said he wanted people to suicide themselves for his band: not for me... suicide yourself if you want, I will stay alive as long as possible !).

Well, I understand what you mean really well. In fact, when it comes to Black-Metal, ideology often fails because most bands have words far bigger than their actions.

We're a bit off topic too, eh, eh!

Back to the topic, I forgot Bemdesar from Bolivia, which plays slow Black-Metal, reminding me a bit of early Samael with their own touch. South-America seems to spawn its bunch of great bands again nowadays! I really like Goat Semen, Levifer, Black Angel, Bestial Holocaust, Aquer, Embalmed, Grima Morstua and some others too. They're not really original but keep the level high.

Sombre Chemin is indeed a promising band even if not really new, the split with Ornaments of Sin is a masterpiece from both bands

Coming from France, Asgeirr will bring a new Cd which promise to be one of the best release of the year, far from usual clone bands (may 2005, Battlefield records)

A KILLER RELEASE THAT I RECOMMEND TO YOU ALL.

HEATEN, HATRED AND ACCURATED HEDONISM TO ITS PAROXISM FOR SOMBRE CHEMIN.

RAW, UNDERGROUND, DIRTY AND UNCOMPRIMISING BLACK METAL FOR ORNAMENTS OF SIN.

YOU ALL HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS MASTERPIECE.

Une énorme claque dans la gueule !

Black Metal is continually looking upwards. The golden age has progressed.

While oldschool bands like Darkthrone have always maintained superb progression, and developed exceptionally, more and more fantastic entities have emerged.

Vassafor as a solid example. Completely original sound, concept and approach, and the maintenance of ultimate evil and darkness. 2 demos and already one of my all time favourites.

About VASSAFOR, who has checked their new MCD? It's the logical progression of the demos and EP IMO. Powerful and darker than ever. And this MERCYFUL FATE cover, it's the kind of cover I like: the band did its own interpretation of the song, and it sounds like a new one.
Maybe not a "new and promising emerging band", but an older than needs support because of its quality music.

excellent mini album.
There's a track re-recorded from demo ii, but with new orchestration, really efficient.

The kind of band everybody will shit their pants in 10 years, but today....
