| 1. Mutiilation - Vampires 2. Celestia - Awakening of the Dormant Fiancee 3. Alcest - Tristesse Hivernale 4. Torgeist - Time of Sabbath
All these are fucking killer releases. I like most everything Drakkar has put out though. Drakkar is obviously one of the best underground metal labels there is.

| Anwyl - "Postmortem Apocalypse" (a very underrated Drakkar release, IMO)

| So what about the most original-sounding Drakkar releases? It's redundant for me to even say, but Mutiilation's "Remains..." has my vote. There's really nothing that sounds like that, esp. before it.
Amaka Hahina is also up there.

| AMAKA HAHINA is one of the most underrated Drakkar releases IMO. The demo was nothing more than several intros one after another, which was boring in the end, but the album is far more mature IMO. This is a real trip into darkness, which is the purpose of this kind of music in my book.
And I still wonder why the Black Legions aura around this album didn't work, as it works for albums that still have nothing to do with the BL except their names (i.e. recent MÜTIILATION albums and all Mr Roussel related projects). Maybe because AMAKA HAHINA doesn't play music that's easy to get into...

| It definitely carried on the Black Legions spirit, without a doubt. Mutiilation's Black Millennium did as well, in my opinion, regardless if it wasn't technically a part of it. That is probably my favorite Mutiilation album, actually. | |

| Black Millenium surely had its qualities, unlike what came after this album... Some tracks have something really special, and are worth for their lyrics alone sometimes. | |

| Amaka Hahina is very underrated as far as I'm concerned. Some of the coldest dark ambient I've ever heard. | |

| The GB'sK and Arghoslent stuff of course! Other good releases according to me: the Vassafor demos ans EP, this band has a real personnality (listen to Diocletian, the other band of Vassafor's members, it's better than Vassafor!)
Decayed - the beast has risen Intolerance by Primigenium The watain stuff, the Atomizer album. etc. etc.
According to me, Drakkar and OSMOSE are the two french labels which have released so many good things.

The important difference between the two labels is the tape distribution and production even if a lot of your demos tapes prods didn't interest me as hiver noir or blacksstorm. The other difference is that Osmose produced more various kinds of metal, but also more useless bands as Analrexia Nervosa or Shining "I wanna die for 10 years but I'm alive". But The best label in front of these two labels is without any doubt Ordeafist ah ah ah.
