Best Drakkar releases in your opinion...?

90% of nowadays bands/labels sucks.

It's hard to go against any LLN stuff. It's really what made me know about Drakkar in the first place. I'm sure quite a few others share those feelings. When I think Drakkar Productions I think of French Black Metal. Here's my favorites.

Mutiilation - Vampires Of Black Imperial Blood
Mutiilation - Remains Of A Ruined, Dead, Cursed Soul
Vermeth - Your Ruin...
Amaka Hahina - 'Aheah Saergathan!' & 'Demetria'
Torgeist - ' Time Of Sabbath' & 'Devoted To Satan' LP re-issues.
Vlad Tepes/Torgeist - Black Legions Metal


I always wondered why Drakkar never signed Antaeus or Seth? I think Peste Noire is on a different label right now, they should go back to Drakkar IMO.

Antaeus turned out to be a grind core band with a satanic empty image after having a demo ala cradle of filth. Really trendy band, even today.

As for SETH, they turned out to be norwegian bm wanabees rockstars.

Both bands lost all credibility.


As for Peste Noire, the guy is a masochist who likes to humiliate himself.

Intersting view. I'd like to know what do you think about other French bands like Bekhira, Hayras, Ordo Templi Aeternae Lucis, Eternal Majesty, Malhkebre, Temple Of Baal, Nehemah, Deathspell Omega, etc. Any of them get your attention?

I haven't read them, I didn't even know there were any. But still, I'd like to know.

Fortunately we have a lot of good bands in France and many others who are not that good, this is my own opinion. Of course, everybody have his own musical taste and free to listen all the shit he wants.

@Chosen Lord: the only really interesting bands which you quoted are Peste Noire and Deathspell Omega.

The rest is hardly worth listening. Most of them are good musicians but posers (Antaeus, Temple of Ballz, Eternal Majesty...).

New DSO is the most useless band of all.

BEKHIRA 1996 demo is maybe the best French BM demo ever. Their album wasn't half as good, though.

I could find many better demos: VT's War Funeral March, PN's Aryan Supremacy, I'a Aem'nh S'hat'n from OI and the OI/Funeral split demo... I will stop here.

None of these demos, except maybe VLAD TEPES' one (and BELKETRE demos, to be precise) carry such an aura of evilness.

Belketre definately sounded the most evil to me. Everything about their music gave off the essence of evil in its purest form.

I'm sorry, but Bekhira's demo has nothing special. It sounds like a lot of bands from the same time, but less personal and original.

I have to say Nuit Noire is one weird fucking band. Unique, but weird.

This demo still has the same effect on me today as it did in 1996. That's a good point for me when considering a release ten years after.

The VT/Belketre split was not on Drakkar. But it's easy to confuse that because the VT/Torgeist split was on Drakkar.
