| Well, back the the music!
Please give me some names of old "exotic" bands (i.e. non european or US bands) that are worth a listen and explain why!
Please no fucking name-dropping or praise of unknown demos you won't let us know because they "are not for trade", etc, just good bands that we can check if we like it. Addresses, contacts, etc, are welcome!
First of all, I'd speak of Reencarnacion. fuck, I got their LP some time ago and the recent rereleases are one of the greatest things to happen recently (a colombian pressing is avalaible on some places like FMP and you've maybe heard that there will be a repress by Nuclear War Now! on LP and by The Ajna Offensive on CD).
Their music are pure fucking thrashing madness, but unlike being another slayer or Kreato clone, they just bring strange elements to their music, bizarre breaks, a violin that plays sick parts, and some parts sounding like Hellhammer but it's not Venom played on 33 RPM here! The 1989 EP that is repressed on the same CD too is maybe weirder than the album but still keeps the same obscurity. There are live tracks too, that are really chaotic but still listenable thanks to the remastering, and the singers' claims are full of rage, which adds a lot to the atmosphere.
No it's your turn! | |

| What are you looking for exactly ? South american bands ? Asian bands ? Bands from 80's ? 90's ?
I can maybe give you some suggestions.

| The two preceding posts weren't mine for sure... I got the "error on posting" message both times while doing the following one:
Firstly, thanks for your offer!
Secondly, I say that I'm interested in both South-American and Asian 80's Thrash/Death/Black bands (or good 90's bands not cloning the norwegian BM scene, etc). Shorts reviews are welcome! I just want to have some advice before buying, because not all of this expensive rare stuff is worth the money.
Well, here are some bands that I know and appreciate:
- from Asia: only Sabbat and some Loudness;
- from South-America: early Sepultura, Vulcano, Mutilator, Holocausto, Necrofago, Genocidio, Reencarnacion, Exterminator and a few others.

| Well, before you go buy the records I advise you to get dubs of the material first.
Soon there will be a magazine featuring interviews with Reencarnacion, Parabellum and Blasfemia. The Reencarnacion interview will also be part of the Reencarnacion rerelease on NWN!

| Thanks for the tips! I've already heard of these bands but in fact these vinyls are so hard to find, and when avalaible very expensive. I better get this Blasfemia LP when I saw it in Germany last year. It was sold 60€ (for the copy in lesser good shape, 70€ for the other), but I guess it was worth the price.
Hum, tape-trading, I don't do this much, but I guess that I'll try. Most lists that came to me are full of rare 90's BM records but usually almost no 80's stuff except some well-known bands.
Well, I got this Sexthrash album on CD, and liked it. I had the following album, "Funeral Serenade" too, but it was boring IMO.
Shub-Niggurath leaves me a strange feeling. some stuff on the CD with demos is really good and dark, but the "Evilness and Darkness prevails" CD sounds like a cheap Possessed / Pestilence rip-off to me, not badly done but not the best band around. "The Kinglike Celebration" is really killer tough, since there's really agressive and occult music here.
Oh, and well, I just got the Expulser CD that Cogumelo rereleased and it's really killer Death/Thrash, very agressive and surprinsingly well-played.
Well, now back to asian bands! How do a band like Sabbrabells sound for example? I've heard of them but I have no clue on how they sound. Any other bands are welcome of course!

| Thanks for the link! I simply hope that one of these guys will find something interesting in my poor list...
Well, I'm in contact with a serious contact to get one of these rare colombian LPs, but the price is high. At least these discs are worth this price as I know and I'll trade them easily if I manage to hate them...
EDIT: Yes, I know Goat Semen! They are a killer band for sure! Levifer rules too in its genre.
I still have to check Anal Vomit though. I hope that they are ass good as the two previous ones.

| Is rare to me, describe my escene like "exotic" but i want to help you!
The Chilean scene of the 80's was the best, coz' many brutal and original bands emerged from this land, and in that times we, the chileans, lives under a dictatorial regiment by the hands of the army and the fascist dictator Augusto Pinochet. Very brutal times for inspiration hehe.
Well, here the list of good chilean bands of the 80:
PENTAGRAM: For many bangers this is the best chilean horde, they play in one of the first extreme gig in Santiago in the year of 1985!!! they make 2 demos one of them was releassed by that time into a 7"ep. Nowadays, the chilean label "PICOROCO RECORDS" released in tape and cd versions the two demos plus 2 bonus ive trax!!! the 12" vynil version is for From Beyond.
MASSACRE, This is one of the first extrme metal band from here (1984), the begginins are Black metal (their first demo) but, after, they plays a thrash death oriented sound... nowadays they are called MASSAKRE, but are not interesting at all.
BELIAL was the first black metal band from here, but they only makes some gigs, and years later they moved into grind death sound.
Other good chilean bands from the past are: DEATH YELL (my fav!!!), BLOODY CROSS (Still actives, since 1987!!!! but very silent and deep UG!) ATOMIC AGGRESSOR, WARPATH (good speed thrash), DARKNESS (cool speed thrash metal madnessssss) and other more recents (1990-1991) like AMMIT (Godz!), BEWITCHED (Many rumours behind them, but the demos, split 12" and first CD from 95 rules!!! still actives!) DEATH LIVING, TOTTEN KORPS (The demos rules!! good death metal!!!!!!)
It's all!!!!!
P.S: My english suxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Do you mean that they are sold at the LOD headquarters ? I ask it since GOATVOMIT's ep has been released on Nuclear War Now productions, not LOD. I guess that a spiit release between Worship Him records ( Norway) and Deathstrike records (Germany) was planned but no news has arisen from their kamp for a long time. Anyway, Support LOD, a great label for sure !

| Well, thanks for all the advices! Some names are familiar to me but I haven't listened to most these bands.
I'll try to write to some zines or distros, etc, when I'll have a bit more money. Well, I hope to get some brazilian Heavy-Metal LPs for a low price. Even if they are bootlegs and rereleases buying them won't make my bank angry, eh, eh!
Oh, and Ammit really kills! I got their releases on CD and I'm glad to have them since it's very dark and sick stuff. Sometimes old stuff is rereleased just for the sake of being rereleased but this time it wasn't a wrong idea!
And about the Chilean Band Torturer, there are a lot of praises for them, but the split with Misanthrope didn't impressed me too much. But one of their members (who is an engineer, I forgot his name) seems to be an intelligent and dedicated guy, so I'm curious on how they sound nowadays.
And mr TLUKORKEN, your english may suck but your information rules!

| Another great albums to be listed here:
HELLER from Serbia. While their old self-titled LP from 1989 is one of the most searched pieces of ex-yougoslavian Metal, it was rereleased a few years ago and you can find it if you search well. Musically, the band plays awesome Thrash-Metal, with catchy choruses, killer riffs, some technical parts too, and an overall dark/evil atmosphere that will please all lovers of eastern Thrash-Metal (TÖRR, TORMENTOR, etc). I really advise you to take your hands on this one. That's better than most second-rate US or german bands from the late 80's rerelased lately. This is Eastern Darkness at its best!
BLACKFIRE from Malaysia. The band is supposed to be active since the early 80's (a fact confirmed by a malaysian contact at least), and plays nowadays some kind of technical and melodic yet evil and epic Metal. Their music reminds me a bit of polish TURBO's "Ostatni Wojownik" for the epic feel, while not that technical in the western way (so unlike WATCHTOWER for example). They have their own style for sure, and the maturity of old bands. Which is not a bad point! Their album is sold-out for now, as I see (only a press of 1000 was done by the label), but may be rereleased in a not so far future, since Nebiula Productions is known for rereleasing regularly their productions. Check their music there!

| Ritual Day are quite cool melodic black metal band from china. Legion of Death released a very nice looking EP of them. A good thing for sure! I don't know their first full-length yet, but I read much good reviews about it. But theyre not really old
Negatron from Malaysia are also a good thing to keep your eye at. They rereleased two demos on a compilation with Afterlife Records. Great thrash Metal with a slight melodic touch. But theyre not really old either.
Pokolgép is a great Power/Heavy Metal Legend from Hungary. Pokoli Színjáték and Totalis Metalis are two fantastic albums (I don't know the others yet). A bit AC/DC like sometimes ("Mennyit ersz?" eg).

POKOLGEP are fucking great! I have only the first album and a live album and both kill. They are just like the Hungarian answer to German Heavy-Metal, and they're better than most of the German bands I've heard. And far less cheesy too. Eastern-European Heavy-Metal is a fucking goldmine indeed. My faves are ARIA, BLACK COFFEE, MAGNIT and OBLASHNYJ KRAJ from Russia (add the famous KRUIZ album to the list for those who like their Metal fast!), AXAT and ER MALAK from Bulgaria, DR STEEL from Croatia, CITRON and SIFON from Czech Republic and POKOLGEP of course! But there weren't the only ones to be good. And I have to check more bands... BTW, CD-R trades are welcome. No mp3 shit and my tape player is a single-tape one so no tape-trades are possible, sorry!

| Man, how get you those bands? I never heard these names (despite of black coffee and citron, but only their names).
Well, Pandora's Box from Hungary are very good, too. I'm going to get the second LP Kö Kövön, which is great Power Metal, but a bit more epic and melodic than pokolgep. I heard a sample from the last album, and for me it's good music.
Medina Azahara is one band from Spain which deals with hard/folk rock heavy metal mixture, but I'm not quite sure if I like it. It sounds "cheesy" as you said, and I don't like the spain language (maybe they emit the cheesy athmosphere). But the rest of the music sounds very good to me.
Excalibur from Brazil is fine plain Heavy Metal. They recorded one demo and a full length in 1983 or something and disbanded. the demo was rereleased a few years before (2003 or 4 I guess). Just look at the cover! It's totally recommendable.
I'm really interested in exotic bands. I don't know why if I'm honest. I like it most when they speak in native language. My faves in czech are Törr, their first 3 albums and the demos are one of the best things I ever heard!
